Pre Construction and Demo
« All ArticlesThis article focuses on the first steps to the construction of Flick's. To find out more about Delaney Park as a whole, visit the park's news page.
The first week of construction began 9/23/2025. The team heads from various trades met on site for a pre-mobilization meeting and discussed logistics of the site and project, rules and considerations, and most importantly to answer any final questions. Priorities established are temporary and permanent utilities, demolition of existing structures and trees, and the construction of Building B (Flick's) and A (Depot).
From the entrance of the park you'll find Building A (country store and train depot) which location conflicts with existing infrastructure that houses our current well, pond, irrigation, and filtration equipment. We drilled and migrated the well and electrical to their new location near the train depot. Temporary electrical pole has been installed for the crews during construction. Trees and buildings have been marked for demolition and the next step will be to bring the surveyor in to mark the corners of each building's foundations.
Building C, the train tunnel you pass through before exiting the jungle will be constructed soon after the initiation of A and B.
The pool complex and Firefly River are currently in the final stages of engineering. Fluid dynamics, structural integrity, safety, lighting, and finding a solution for sealing the river openings while not in use are some of the challenges we have overcome and are still addressing. Soon we will begin the permitting process with a timeline of roughly 30 days before we can break ground at the river location. Building E (the river show building) will need to be constructed carefully alongside the river builders, paying close attention to the margins needed for the pool coping and structurals.
Building D, the lake pavilion, is furthest behind in development being at the structural engineering phase. Due to a miscommunication this building did not go through the proper channels early enough. This building will be one of the last to be completed.
The next steps are to continue with demolition and surveying while we meet with our landscape designer next week (of 9/29/25) to refine those plans further. Stay tuned for the next post where we watch the crew break ground!
